Every two years, a large flower carpet is laid on the Grand Place in Brussels by the Tapis de Fleurs association. I had learned about the event shortly after the last one had taken place and had to wait ages for this, the 20th Flower Carpet. As it was, I barely squeezed in the photo shoot as I had plane to catch on its opening day. However, this was the perfect time to go as volunteers were just finishing the beautifully colored arrangement.

In this selection of photos you can see volunteers finishing the 1,800 square meter assembly of over 600,000 flowers. This year had a Japanese theme to celebrate 150 years of diplomatic and friendly relations.
